This skywatch will cover last Friday through this Thursday.
I was glad I walked at the end of last week before the temperatures dropped and almost all the leaves finally fell from the trees.
Last Friday was made for a holiday weekend in terms of a beautiful sky.
I've gotten a lot of my blog posts this week from my walks at the end of last week.
It's been a mix in terms of sunny and overcast.
I was glad the sun was out over the weekend.
I like the wispy clouds against the blue.
I enjoy all types of skies including gray but we've been due the blue we finally got.
I like variations in the sky for reflections.
The wispy look of bare branches that recently dropped their leaves appeals to me.
The next tree ended up with brown leaves all of the sudden when it got very cold one night.
We've had as much gray as blue but I took more pictures on the sunny days.
I was glad the sun came out this Wednesday when I had to go to my office in Durham.
I caught some shots in between meetings.
I'm a little late getting this post together so I'll end here.

I took the first two shots on a walk after Thanksgiving diner (Thursday).
Almost all of the leaves have since fallen from the trees.
Friday morning I walked at Shelley Lake and the Great Blue Heron was kissing his reflection.
He caught a fish and I caught it in his mouth.
This was the first time I caught a shot of the heron with a fish in its mouth. I took a bunch of pictures with its mouth full but none were particularly good.
I enjoy the bare limbs on the trees.
We are definitely heading into winter.
There are so many evergreens around the lake that they provide year round color.
One more shot of the great blue heron.
This is a rather long post but I took so many pictures on my walks it's hard to choose.
We had a very beautiful Thanksgiving weekend although it got colder and colder each day.
We had such a mild winter last winter that I'm ready for the cold.
The ducks still hang out where people used to feed them before the signs went up to stop feeding the ducks and geese.
In spite of the signs I still see people on the bridge that ignore the signs and feed the wildlife but not as many as used to.
What bothers me is when people feed them during warm seasons as opposed to in the winter when they need more help.
There were a pair of downy woodpeckers in the trees on the trail.
The pair of mallards below were in the creek that feeds into the lake.
I caught a bunch of reflections on my walk.
Sunday morning I rushed out into the frigid air for a look at Jack Frost paintings.
I was glad I wasn't going anywhere so I didn't have to scrape the windshields.

I hope everyone that celebrates it is having a happy Thanksgiving.
There are already a lot less leaves on my oak trees than when I took the shot below, a few days ago.
All the shots in this post were taken from my yard over the past week.
It's been another week with plenty of rain and a few partly sunny days.
Even a little blue is nice.
I do like the cotton batting clouds.
One more shot for this week's skywatch.
