(Looks like Six Forks at I-440 in the second shot, not sure how close the first one is to that though.)<BR/><BR/>Go further north on Six Forks though and I can well remember when "civilization" stopped very abruptly just south of Sawmill Road. Virtually everything north of there was undeveloped other than a few houses and subdivisions. Certainly nothing like the end-to-end commercial district it is now.<BR/><BR/>Still, Raleigh's done a better job of keeping some green in the mix -- even downtown -- than a lot of urban centers have.
