For my last Skywatch Friday I posted a color shot here from a different perspective of this same work which is in the NC Museum of Art's Museum Park . I thought I'd post this black and white shot to show what it looks like as you approach it. The Gyre by Thomas Sayre is made of concrete, colored with iron oxide and reinforced with steel.
Monochrome Monday is hosted by Aileni at Loose Ends.
What a scenic place! I love it! The arch are very interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy Monochrome post is here. Hope you can check it out, too! Thanks!
This is great! Love it...
ReplyDeletelooks very serene in mono... beautiful
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer this to your original.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Linkey page comment, you are the only one to note the picture so far.
Great perspective that seems more stunning and unusual in black and white!
ReplyDeleteStill just as impressive in black and white. I love the spacing between them - this angle is great.
ReplyDeleteThis post brought back fond memories of movies on the lawn. Do they still do that? Love the sculpture in black and white. BJ
ReplyDeleteWonderful scenic view. Lndscapes in mono aresoemtimes so much more efffective.
ReplyDeleteTHat's a very unusual piece of art.
ReplyDeleteVery nice b&w... invokes a peaceful feeling. Love the original, also!
ReplyDeleteFabulous .. it looks perfect in BW!

Two shots of the same Art work, and they look so different. The color shot and its perspective seems to be an half-buried string. I really love it. The B&W shot looks like archs.
ReplyDeleteI think that The Gyre 'lives' with the color and the light.
Really interesting. I like both views.
ReplyDeleteI really have to get over there some day soon (okay, not too soon... not with the fair starting up in a few days). It's criminal that I haven't been considering it's only a little over a mile from my house.
ReplyDeleteNicely done!
I like the black and white version more than the color version, it just seem to have more a mood to it
ReplyDeleteThat's excellent! I love the way it looks.
