Monochrome Monday: The Gyre in black and white



For my last Skywatch Friday I posted a color shot here from a different perspective of this same work which is in the NC Museum of Art's Museum Park . I thought I'd post this black and white shot to show what it looks like as you approach it. The Gyre by Thomas Sayre is made of concrete, colored with iron oxide and reinforced with steel.

    Two shots of the same Art work, and they look so different. The color shot and its perspective seems to be an half-buried string. I really love it. The B&W shot looks like archs.
    I think that The Gyre 'lives' with the color and the light.

    I really have to get over there some day soon (okay, not too soon... not with the fair starting up in a few days). It's criminal that I haven't been considering it's only a little over a mile from my house.

    I like the black and white version more than the color version, it just seem to have more a mood to it
