I often photograph this church when I'm stuck at a stop light in downtown Durham, NC. Unfortunately the wires get in the way of wide shots, so I tried a close up of the bells which is the one part not crossed by wires. Below is the whole church so you can see why the wires are an issue.

'The Bells, the Bells...!' said the short bystander with the crooked back.
ReplyDeleteSorry C, carried away with the aftermath of the most fabulous MGP race.
I have a collection on wonderful places just full crossed with wires... Sometimes I like them for my photofraphy hobby, but mostly not as a citizen.

I notice more now, just how many cables there are, and they are always in the way...:-(
ReplyDeleteLovely Bells, pretty mono Church, horrible cables..lol
Very nice close-up of those bells.
ReplyDeleteI like the lines on across the sky :)
ReplyDeleteGd Nite!! :P
p/s: Sorry Linky went on strike at T.F on your first attempt
The more we communicate the more we get crossed wires - love the bells!
ReplyDeleteI agree - the wires are an issue (lets put them all underground or go wireless - that's even better). Grand structure. Good subject for b&w.
ReplyDeleteSame here. But good that you have a wide angle camera.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots.
Luckily most of new cables is under the streets etc. :)
ReplyDeleteNice shots!
All these urban wires are entirely non-photogenic, aren't they? But the church and its bells are beautiful indeed!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

What a fantastic church !! The bells are really big and old !! I Really loved the pics..Great one..
ReplyDeleteA stunning piece of arcitecture.
ReplyDeleteLove to take picture og them as well :-))
Nice week to you from Anne
Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that wires can be really annoying when photographing. Nice b&wh shot.
ReplyDeleteThe wires! I kinda like it with the wires - so American! You can walk between skyscrapers and woden pole and wires around. They put metal poles here at the NC State Fairgrounds - those are giant rusty things - made me miss the old tree ones :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes those wires just get in the way. But, they are a fact of life. I do like the bells, though.
ReplyDeleteGood you did a close-up shot; those cables do spoil the otherwise picturesque church.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely building! Perhaps the wires could be an artistic link between worlds! Yeah! Maybe!
ReplyDeleteYet still the beauty is there!
It's a lovely church, but I do agree with you about the wires. Shame the modern age has to intrude.
ReplyDeleteI liked the church monochrome very much...beautiful capture!
ReplyDeleteimposing!

The wires do ruin the view of a very pretty looking church.
ReplyDeleteSOmetimes wires get in my way too, mkaes one mad!
ReplyDeleteBut I think the wires make the picture interesting. So for my sake they can stay:)
ReplyDeleteTrying to find a clear shot without cables is difficult, it is a bother to erase them all. Love the church and bells though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! This church looks very similar to a church here in East Texas.
ReplyDeleteMost wonderful monochromes ..
ReplyDeletei love b&w photos of churches....gives an old dramatic look.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous monochrome photos. Alas, I've had to learn to live with electrical wires in MY photos too.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
It's a beautiful church, Carver, cables and all! :)
