The Antiques Roadshow was in Raleigh, NC on Saturday and I went there with a friend who was visiting. Since it took place in the Convention Center, I took the photo above of the statue of Sir Walter Raleigh who is looking away from all the commotion.

The Antiques Roadshow is a Traveling production that explores the antiques and cultural heritage of various areas of the United States. People can bring in anything they want to be appraised.

What I found the most interesting were some of the off the wall things people had with them like the alligator above.

I'm shy about taking photographs in crowds of people but I figured the lady above wouldn't mind. To visit other parts of the world, please go to That's My World Tuesday.
I always liked to watch the Antiques Roadshow on TV. How wonderful that you got to go see it in person! Thanks for showing us your world.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tour of a really interesting looking place! That alligator by the way is hilarious! Love it! Marvelous photos as always, Carver! Thanks for sharing! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteoh that looks like it would have been a lot of fun.
ReplyDeletenow did you take anything to have them look at and appraise?
have a wonderful evening.
Oooh, I want that dress. The alligator is a bit weird, I wonder what made them bring it (although I do know that Steiff toys for example can be worth a lot of money)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and commenting. To answer the question about whether I took something to be appraised, I did take something and got some interesting information. The annoying part though was there was a chip I didn't know was there which affects the value quite a lot.
ReplyDeleteAdorable pictures and so interesting place! This first shot is a real artwork! Congratulations !
ReplyDeleteGod bless you

That must have been a fun day! I wonder what your avatar is thinking? "Will Walter ever come down from the ledge so we can get going?"
ReplyDeleteFunny to see the stuffed gator being brought in for appraisal. But, hey, maybe it's worth a lot to someone!
ReplyDeleteMy wife is really into antiques, I'll be showing her your post later tonight. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic week

WOW!! How fun!! I love antiques, too!
ReplyDeleteI loved each photo - great compositions. All seem to tell a story of their own. (Who would hang that alligator??)
ReplyDeleteIs that an antique alligator? :)
ReplyDeleteBesides, we all want to know what you took to be appraised!
Love Road Show and am hoping to get the requested tickets for Aug in Phoenix. How lucky for you to go. Bet you saw all kinds of interesting things. I might have a hard time trying to decide what to bring, I have too many things I'd like to have appraised. So what did you take?
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for visiting and to answer the questions about what I took: I took a Chinese Rose Medallion punch bowl. I found out from the appraiser that it was one of the ones made between 1820 and 1850. It's devalued quite a lot because there is a chip I didn't even notice. It's not an actual broken piece but a little of the ornamental part was chipped on the lip showing the base.
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting though and I was mostly going with my friend so I enjoyed it. She took some documents and jewelery and got good information. Each person can take two things but since most of what I would have wanted to take was so big and heavy, I said she should have 3 and I'd just take the bowl because I didn't want to deal with more than that. It's not something I would have done except for a lark with my friend but I was glad I went. It was fun.
I hate I missed the Roadshow! I just know that I had something worth the mint...surely! Love the alligator and the lovely lady photos!

Having quite a few antiques we sometimes watch the Britis TV production which is quite instructive.
ReplyDeleteNice post and great photo of Sir Walter.
I always found it a great idea to take antique objects to a show. I often watch the Antiques Road Show of the BBC and we have a similar show on Dutch TV.Your photos are stunning! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI love the Antiques Roadshow and I love your photos, especially the silly alligator. Don't be afraid to take pictures in crowds - everyone takes pictures of everyone these days anyway.
ReplyDeleteYou went to the ANtique Roadshow!!! You lucky duck! I'm pea green with envy! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE watching that show! I'm always watching it with hubby but that alligator! Hehehehe.. awesome capture.
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful photos here!
I like to watch that show also, I can't believe some of the prices that are set, but trouble is finding a buyer.
ReplyDeleteI just looked at the pics I have missed the past couple of days, NICE. Really liked the monochrome one yest.
Your photos brought a BIG smile to my face today. Loved the sense of humor you brought to the event! The lady from a different century with a roller bag!
ReplyDeleteLove the stature of my compatriot Sir Walter, he is a national hero to us. I love antique fairs, always so interesting.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun and what a load of junk
ReplyDeleteThat glass front is just gorgeous! I like them all but that is my fave!
ReplyDeletenice that you were astill able to take photos of some things there. I also feel awkward when i take photos in a crowded area.
