My daughter and I have always felt at home in public libraries, wherever we might find them, so when we got caught in the rain wandering around Greensboro, NC the library was a perfect place to seek refuge.
From the outside, I never would have guessed how interesting it would be inside. The sculpture under the skylight is a high light and the colorful children's section on the right is very appealing.
Some of the walls are covered in vintage posters from the World War I era. The windows are reflected in some of the posters which I didn't plan on when I took the picture, but I kind of like it. Of course a library wouldn't be worth much without books and this one had many rooms full of shelves filled with books, as one would expect.

I think this is the most interesting library I have ever seen! The photos are great. enJOY your day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge library... seems to be well maintained too.
ReplyDeleteI would love to spend a day here browsing the books there.
Excellent - and what great quality of shot for being inside!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Klaus

I adore libraries...what ever city we've ever lived in (and there have been scads) the first place I scouted out was the Public Library! Love this one so close to home...
ReplyDeletemay have to go get a look at it myself!

That's a huge library. I could see myself browsing thru those wonderful classic posters.
ReplyDeleteI love librarys, this one looks very interesting especially the sculpture.
ReplyDeleteA very appealing library but the books would be enough of a draw by themselves. Our local library has had to cut their hours so severly I must make an appointment with myself to make sure I get there during the limited hours.
ReplyDeletewow what a great library, love that monument in the second photo. Excellent pics
ReplyDeleteHave a great week

That is a fantastic place. So good of whoever to allow photography inside. I admit if it wasn't for the library here I would have very limited resources. As much as I love the internet, you can't beat flicking through crumbling books on a bookshelf library.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice library, inside and out!
ReplyDeleteWhat a grand library this is! Verging on an art gallery! Wonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteNice sculpture. How convient to have a library to hide from the rain.
ReplyDeleteGreat library! I could wander around all day and more! Lovely kids section and the sculpture ... WOW!
ReplyDeleteWhat a special library! It looks well endowed, too. Magnificent sculpture and vintage art!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful library and beautiful photos. I love libraries - all those books and you can take them home.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful library, I think! Very modern, very light and yet it has a certain dignity that reminds me of former times.
ReplyDeleteSuch a big library . Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a marvelous library tour. You make me want to take my camera to our Library and Cultural Center and share too ;--)
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
That is a beautiful library. You are Greensboro's best advocate!
ReplyDeleteThat is one cool library, great photos.
ReplyDeleteOur city library is small and I wish it's as big as the one here in the photos. I especially like the pic of the lobby. When I was in college, our school lib was my fave haven.
ReplyDeleteMy world is up here.
