Last week I went to Durham, NC (U.S.) for a staff meeting and was surprised to see a new pedestrian bridge across Highway 147 at Alston Avenue.
When I headed home, I was ready to try for a few more shots of the bridge approaching it from the other direction.
Since the pedestrian bridge isn't opened yet, if you look at the shot above the people walking across the road bridge on the left hand side are sharing that with cars. When the pedestrian bridge which you can see on the other side of the road bridge is finished, that will be a better way to cross the highway.
The shot below is one I took after the staff meeting, when I went into the park which is below the parking lot.
The next shot is taken from the parking lot facing the building I had left after the meeting.
The next shot is also taken from the parking lot but I turned my camera a little towards the left.
The last shot taken from the parking lot is facing in a whole other direction to get the expansive sky into the shot.

A lovely series of photos. Those pedestrian bridges are popping up a lot, especially across the busiest roads. Enjoyed this very much, thanks for sharing your part of the world.
ReplyDeleteGreat that they do something positive for the pedestrians in your part of the world!
ReplyDeleteI see spring has arrived with lovely Easter flowers :)
Drive by photography. Gotta love it. You never know exactly what you're gonna get.
ReplyDeleteThe only times I've been down 147 recently have been at night, so I hadn't even seen this. But I know exactly where it is. Can't believe I missed it!
Beautiful shots. The pedestrian bridges will definitely help.

Excellent post, Great photos!!!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it seems there is a tiny resemblance of a portion of one shot with a scenery in another location oceans away; like on the 6th photo. The buildings though are definitely west. And the flowers - oh spring has sprung indeed!
ReplyDeleteGreat to have a pedestrian bridge!! And your photos are terrific as always, Carver!! And as always, I love the dark, bare trees silhouetted against those gorgeous blue skies and clouds!! Perfect! Hope you have a great week!

In Thailand, there isn't always a bridge available. And cars are far more important than peoples lives.
ReplyDeleteThe beautiful blue sky makes a great background.
Interesting post. Very nice shots and would you believe I am so glad to finally see some daffodils blooming?
