Gracious gentlewomen allow you to gain entrance, to one of the many town houses, through the white picket gate.

You can stroll through the garden at another colonial house and enter via the gate.

There are such a generous supply of gates in Colonial Williamsburg that I'll stop with one last substantial gate which leads to a carriage house which surely has a groom or two.

  9. What a contrast -- I just finished looking at Francisca's photo essay on gates in Mongolia, clicked on your name next and got more gates.
    Gorgeous ones!
Interesting to think of people in such different parts of the world feeling the need for gates. None would really keep out a determined intruder, but stray passers-by would be deterred from trespassing.

I see you love gates too :D
The Botanical garden is so awesome, lovely details. When I think of Botanical garden I always think of signs with names on them and boring (you know what I mean), but this one has a fairy tale style :D

I love the colonial houses too, exactly my style of houses (big and small - I'm weird and have many likes :D)
