October has flown in to rescue me from the summer doldrums. Blessed cooling is just what I needed. The weather has dropped to pleasantly cool temperatures and it looks like it may be here to stay.
I am always happy to see autumn arrive but this year with an extra hot summer the cool off is a huge relief.
The photographs in this post are from Sunday morning which was a lot better than expected.
The forecast called for rain and although it did cloud up later in the day the morning was perfect.
I think the sky is prettier when the dotted clouds arrive. Saturday was all blue skies which was nice after a lot of rain but the Sunday mix is my favorite in terms of the sky.
It's still very early autumn where I live but there are more and more changes in addition to the changing temperatures.
All of these shots were taken at Shelley Lake. I tend to post a lot of shots from there on my blog but hopefully, with changing seasons and ever changing sky, it's not too much of the same.
Before long there will be more and more red and orange leaves mixing in for yet another change in the look.

Ah, look at those skies and sights!
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell the fresh air!
Here, well.... the mornings are nicer than 2 weeks ago, .... mpf,.... ;)
GOOD pix. I love the first and the last!
ReplyDeleteThe last composition is fantastic, I'm delighted by your beautiful ideas and so perfect photography!
ReplyDeleteLéia :)
Terrific shots, you present them so well. :)
ReplyDeleteI do like those clouds a lot too. We don't seem to get them here a lot. I'm glad your torture over the summer heat is finally over. Hope your fall is simply delightful.
ReplyDeleteAmen to that. I enjoyed the summer of 2010 immensely -- except for the hellish heat we had. So I'm ready for these 40's we've been getting the last few days.
ReplyDeleteWhew!
Love the ducks wading .. and the bench on the hillside .. superb!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots of amazing variety.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful walk about your lovely world. Over the years I've found beauty in all the seasons -- different in each, but beautiful. Having grown up in Texas, I remember looking forward to Fall and cooler weather. Enjoy your week, Carver!

It looks wonderful there, still green. Thank goodness the weather is now cooler!
ReplyDeleteCarver, your world is so beautiful! :)
ReplyDeletethe sky photos are beautiful with all the white puffy clouds, but unlike you, I am very sorry to see summer pass.
ReplyDeleteWow what wonderful creativity here. The birds flying is amazing and must have been a sight to see.
ReplyDeleteAlthough the leaves are turning at the higher elevations like you, I still see green all around here in the Sacramento Valley.
ReplyDeleteThis week I am seeing another sign of fall. The hawks are back, sitting on the fence posts and soaring in the air. I love watching them.
I just love the sky photo with the road on it and the one with the bench! Postcard perfect once again!
ReplyDeleteI had a nice time walking along with you and yours. What a nice walk.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the one, with the bench. :-)
Gina
Gorgeous skies in your photos, it looks like a lovely day to be at the lake.
ReplyDeleteMarvellous pictures. I love autumn and its pretty colours.
ReplyDeleteI love the bench, and the duck couple, and the lovely rounded hill...

I so enjoy your walks around the lake and it is always a pleasure to see the seasons change where the landscape has become familiar.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that at last you are getting respite from the heat and I am dreading ours about to start all too soon. It is so hard to avoid water retention in hot weather.
I am also glad that you can walk again any time of day.
Are those ducks or geese?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clouds, the cotton puffs.
