The Weekend in Black and White: Remains of a tree

I always wonder what lurks within an old tree trunk that is starting to be hollow.

  3. The space in tree looks almost like a map of the U.S. Neat choice for monochrome.

  4. Wonderful and magical find. The inner surface of the hole looks like a cliff in miniature. So many secret adventures could happen there.

I like old trees and wonder how old that tree was when it's cut.
    Awesome B&W image, though.

  12. i'd bet on some chipmunks/ squirrels nesting inside until the first rain or snow, that is. great capture.

  13. I like the tile, but the trees, and esp the tree trunk, are really fascinating.

  14. The dead trees or snags are wonderful for birds. There are so many insects to eat and also provide nesting areas and materials to be used....
