ABC Wednesday: C is for Crane

The first crane is creatively distorted by the UNC Hospital building.

The second crane is helping build the Cancer hospital at UNC. That hospital has since been completed.

All of the first three shots of cranes were taken in Chapel Hill, NC.

The next two shots of cranes were photographed at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

The rest of the cranes were shot in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina.

I think the next crane might even be cadmium yellow.

    Whenever I hear the word crane, my mind quotes Dame Edith Sitwell for me: Jane, Jane, tall as a crane, the morning light creaks down again.
    I think she meant the bird, but who knows with Dame Edith.

    What terrific and interesting captures for the C Day, Carver! I'd never really thought of a crane as being elegant, but somehow that's the first thought that came to mind! I also love your blue, blue skies! Perfect backdrop! Have a wonderful week!

    Cranes, cranes and more cranes, I think you really have to be a crane lover to take that many pictures of so many cranes. I don't think I've seen that many cranes in my lifetime. Great choice for C day. LOL and to think I thought I was going to see some pictures of birds....

    The first picture is gorgeous, Carver, and the ones with clouds are lovely. The one looking upward at the cranes on top of the buildings made me nervous, however. A lifelong fear of heights, even in photographs. Silly, I know, but there it is.

    These are amazing machines, huge and impressive, but bring a tear to my eyes as my nephew was crushed by a crane in a work related accident. I can't see a crane without thinking of Stewart!

    Please don't feel bad that I share this. It was many years ago, but always a reminder of a sweet young man, taken too soon.

    I will never look at cranes in the same way! This post gave me an appreciation for them which had been recently lacking (especially for the very large one close to my home building a huge building in what is supposed to be a strictly very nice residential area!!)
