That's My World Tuesday: Sunday Morning at Shelley Lake

This weekend we had a blessed relief from the unrelenting heat.

Unfortunately the heat is descending again for at least all this week so I took advantage of the cooler mornings this weekend.

I enjoyed the patterns that the reflections made in the water.

The Canadian Geese and ducks seemed to be having fun.

While the other ducks and geese were active the pair below were nestled into the grasses. Perhaps they have some later babies.

I decided to walk around the lake in part because I was hoping the clouds would reward me with some good reflections.

I was also aware that it was a good morning for the sunny paths I've been avoiding in favor of the woodland ones which give much needed shade when the temperatures rise fast.

Part of the way around Shelley Lake has shade but there is also more sun in other places so it's not my first choice when the heat is oppressive.

I am crossing my fingers that we'll continue having much needed breaks from the heat for at least a few days here and there until it's fall.

Sometimes I feel like I'm very boring continually talking about the weather.

However, it's difficult to ignore the weather when it is such a big factor in terms of my energy level.

I am certainly lucky to have an air conditioned house in the summer and heat in the winter.

However, in terms of being outside, I do better when it's cold as opposed to very hot.

  2. Wonderful series of photos. We have been having a hot spell here and we have no A/C so it's been pretty miserable.

  3. I’m not keen on excessive heat and don’t mind the rainy weather or talking about it, Carver. It seems that weather is actually the number one topic of casual conversation between all people. Your photos are lovely as always and I am getting quite fond of Shelley Lake. I do see cloud reflections, especially in the top photo. These make for very interesting scenic captures. :)

  4. I am the same way. I can handle the colder temps than the hot ones and the heat always make me cranky and drains all my energy.

We have no AC so it's a miserable night when the heat is on during the summer months.

  7. What a lovely, peaceful looking place, Carver! Terrific series of captures! I do love the ducks and geese. Wish I could send you some of our cool weather -- it has only reached the mid-70s twice this spring! It is lovely here today though and I'm not complaining about not having the heat that seems to be covering most of the country. Have a great week, stay cool!

  9. These are wonderful shots. I love all those busy birds. The heat is especially tough when it doesn't move. When there is a breeze, there is the possibility of a breath! Gorgeous lake.
