The Weekend in Black and White: Different soil types

What interested me about the subject was the contrast in soil types.

I couldn't decide which shot was a better indicator of that.

In some ways the color version with red clay, black loam, white sand, and rocks really showed it off better but I like it in black and white for some reason. I may use the color shots for another post but I'm sticking with black and white for this post for obvious reasons.

  1. I prefer the middle one. It seems to tell more of the story without getting too far out.

  9. I think you definitely made the right choice, showing these shots in B&W. They're clear, dramatic and compelling. Very nice!

  10. Your choice for black and white is excellent.
In my opinion the middle one is the best.

  11. The layering in the ground showed up very nicely as a contrast to the vertical trees.

  12. I prefer the second one and I like that you to show three different versions of it.

  13. I hope this isn't a repeat post -- I'm having slow connection pblms.

I can really see the difference in soils in the B&W, but I'd also love to see the same pix in color. I'd like to have a place to post comparison pictures (SoC next to played with"). The contrast is often so interesting.

We loved the red soil in the South when we stayed there a couple of winters.
