Helicopter high on the top of the UNC Hospital roof.
Can you spot the helicopter hovering in the clouds. I thought it was a bird at first.
The last helicopter was so loud over my roof I hoped it wasn't landing there.

I just saw a post someone did of a dragonfly that I thought looked like a helicopter and now here you are posting a picture of the real thing. That is an awesome shot of it on the roof. They are noisy … but with no need for large runways so convenient, especially for transporting patients.
ReplyDeleteWe're right in the flight path for helicopters landing at our hospital too.
ReplyDeleteThey can certainly make a heavy droning sound as they pass. I sure am thankful for them though.
very important service.

I flew in one once! it was a lot of fun and very loud too :)
ReplyDeleteHappy ABC
H is for...
The sight of hovering helicopters thrill me. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures.
simply beautifully captured shots...lovely!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots. Nice way to beat the time and traffic.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! A short trip by helicopter must be something fascinating!
ReplyDeleteGod bless you!

I want to fly in a helicopter...but I'd prefer it if it wasn't on route to the hospital. When I was a kid, I used to see tandem rotor choppers all the time, I grew up in the vicinity of an army base. I loved those.
ReplyDeleteWhen they fly over my house to land at the hospital, the whole house shakes. They can be very LOUD.
ReplyDeleteAwesome capture, but I always feel so bad for whomever the copter is bringing to the hospital.

I have always been fascinated by helicopters but, as everyone says, they're very noisy.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful how they can save lives, though.

Nice shots, Carver. I love photographing anything that flies (and checking out everyone else's flying captures).
ReplyDeleteGood shots - I love to see the helicopters land and take off - they come down pretty much in front of my office windows - we have to rush to close the windows because the notes get blown away- have a good week - Jane
ReplyDeleteVery nice entry for H day! Helicopters are noisy but great for saving peoples lives! They look like big dragonflies to me;o)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful shots, Carver;o)

ReplyDeleteThis technology is so important. Amazing shots.
ReplyDeleteSuch a perfect pick for H, beautiful shots too.
ReplyDeleteMy ABC is about the Humongous Coke in Disney.
I would love to take a ride in a helicopter. Maybe some day...shall I put it on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteYou did a really great job of capturing the helicopter. Nice photographs. I have never been in one, but I think I would like to give it a try. genie
ReplyDeleteGreat captures. Fascinating transportation, to be sure.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a dead insect in my computer screen. Hurray for helicopters! Its sound used to scare me when I was a kid. As an adult I fancy flying lessons with helicopter as the goal. Dreams... your captures poked my dreamy head again. Loved your post. Happy H Day!
ReplyDeleteWe dont' see helicopters very often where we live, just very ocassionally the one used by the police when tracking someone!
ReplyDeleteHelicopters are used here only by the VVIP's!! Wish it was used for better purposes here!!

I love helipcopters...they're so cool. I've ridden in one twice for fun - once in a friend's helipcopter in LA and once in Hawaii. Both were wonderful experiences...and thankfully never to have to get to a hospital quickly. May we never need them for that.
ReplyDeletethat first one is especially cool.
ReplyDeleteGreat word ! never thought about a helicopter, would also be difficult to get my cats in there, lol !

Wow -- great shots. I've seen 'copters land at hospitals a couple of times before, but never got a picture. It's always a little bit of a sad/happy thing, because you wonder about the trauma that caused the flight, but happy that it was there for them.
ReplyDeleteWhat would we do without the Air Ambulance helicopters now. They are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWe are in the midst of a helicopter training area, so hear and see many of them droning along the mountain tops where the currents and downdrafts are evidently perfect for training purposes.
ReplyDeleteCool photos!
