Our World Tuesday: Sunday morning walk

The trees are very slowly changing to their fall clothes although many are still in summer frocks.

While I was walking on Sunday I kept looking for the fall/autumn colors.

Sometimes when I looked up I would see the top leaves changing.

I like the mix of colors when it almost looks like paint is thrown up to catch a few leaves.

There were still plenty of wildflowers on the trial I was walking on.

I don't know if they were catching anything but there were quite a few people fishing on the boat house dock at Shelley Lake.

The Canada Geese were grazing in the dried flowers.

I think the leaves that dropped into the lake made a colorful spot for the duck that was swimming.

I love this time of year when it's cool enough to walk without getting hot but not so cold that I have to bundle up.

It's noticeable how few water birds are out compared to when it was still summer.

I was surprised that there weren't more people walking at the lake because it was a perfect day for me.

Some people were probably waiting to walk in the afternoon when it was warmer.

There are more and more trees that are fully changed into fall attire.

There are a lot of evergreens at the lake that will stay green but there are many more trees that have yet to change colors.
ourworldtDSCN9814
Can you tell I'm a little obsessive about the fall changes.
ourworldtDSCN9841
Fall is definitely my favorite season. I like it even better than spring.

  1. I, too, love fall even more than I love spring. There is something promising about the season as its awesome colors creep into the environment. Tourists, visitors and fun seekers scatter away a little and life seems quieter and more inspiring. The duck encircled by water with its many reflections seems as utterly content with autumn as we are. :)

  8. I could have written this post Carver -- except, you know, not as well and not with such beautiful pictures ;>)

It surprised me how much like Oregon your pictures are. And the weekend was lovely here with similar temperatures (but today it is pouring rain).

The Fall color here too is just barely starting to show up.

  14. Fall walks are usually so enjoyable, with the crisp air and the changing leaves. This year, we had a HOT Thanksgiving, which was just too incongruous!

  15. You sound to be sitting on pins and needles waiting for the big show. Fall is definitely my favourite season as well and I glory in all I see in the northern hemisphere blogs. I would love to walk in your forest.

  17. Love the walk! My favorite mile marker is a few yards down Jeans Road (that one I walk all the time along the wetlands) -- it says '3 miles' (I think that's from town) -- but I always pretend I've walked 3 miles!

  18. I am envious of your Fall tree colours, most of our trees lose their leaves due to high winds before they have a chance to change colour. I remember the glorious colours of Fall from my time in the USA, in Washington State, and when we passed through West Virginia travelling east at Fall time, it was a wonderful sight to top a rise and see the gorgeous expanse of colour before us. Lovely photo's.
