SkyWatch Friday: Ever Changing

Abrupt weather changes have continued to provide varied skies.
skywatchrnDSCN4262
Not only is each day different the changes within a day are abrupt.
skywatfdDSCN4268
I have always liked changes in weather but this winter has been almost too erratic for me.
skywatchDSCN4269
I wouldn't mind at least a few days of the same.
skywatfDSCN4301
I also wouldn't mind a little snow which is the one thing we haven't had so far, where I live, this winter.
skywatfrdDSCN4303
I know to be careful what I wish for because sometimes I end up with more than I bargained for.

One thing I worry about though is that, with the mixed signals, I've noticed some plants with buds may get moving toward spring too fast.
skywtfrdtDSCN4561
It seems whenever we have a lot of warm day mixed in with the cold during winter, we are more likely to have a colder spring.
skywfrdtDSCN4462
I like the way the light is so varied which gives different tones in the sky.
skywtfrtDSCN4468
There's a particular tone of blue which is so vibrant.
skywtfrdDSCN4473
The contrast in the blue sky and white clouds appeals to me.
skywtfrdDSCN4474
I've had a number of days when I've literally taken hundreds of sky shots.
skywtfridmDSCN4476
Part of the reason I've been taking so many sky shots is the clouds are moving fast across the sky and look different as they scatter.
skywatfmDSCN4482
It almost seems like there are cloudworks in the sky, as opposed to fireworks.
skywtfrmDSCN4502
I like the idea of cloud sparklers.
skywatfrmDSCN4575
Sometimes the blue in the middle of clouds makes me think of a sky lake.
skywtfmDSCN4578
I find sky-scapes fun to look at.
skywtfmDSCN4581
I guess it's pretty obvious I like to look at the sky considering how many shots I take of it.

When I was taking some of these shots birds were flying past too quickly for me to get them in the shot.

  1. Those cloud sparkler shots are amazing. You've had a lot of blue skies - something that I'm longing for over here!

  2. You got wonderful pictures of the changes, but I would go along with you on the "almost too erratic." It's almost as if you lived in Colorado (we have kids there)...where the weather very often changes from day to day...and hour to hour. You have to dress in layers. And I always thought I'd be (even more) bonkers if I lived there all the time. But they do have wonderful sunshine!

  9. It has been a "funny" winter in Norway to, but the snow has come and the sky is either bleak og grey.

  10. Lovely clouds and tons of changes among these photos. I'm sorry some plants think it's spring already. I sure hope they aren't damaged by any future cold!

  19. I know what you are saying about the clouds changing so quickly. Your collection is beautiful. The first three shots are my favorites. The different colors of the skies with the leafless trees in front are heavenly. genie

  22. Wonderful photos Carver but your weather seems to be doing handsprings and cartwheels. The last few years have been very unpredictable the world over. The animals and birds are migrating in odd ways too.
