The Weekend in Black and White: Downtown Durham, NC

This house sits in a part of Durham, NC that is mostly office buildings and parking lots. I find it charming but wish the car hadn't been in the driveway.

  1. Your photo of the heritage home reminds me of a classic black and white movie where shadow adds atmosphere to the scene. The big tree frames the house perfectly and had the modern car not been parked there, this picture could have been taken decades ago. Lovely shot, Carver, I have a feeling you will be taking its picture again someday. :)

  3. Love these style houses; would love one with a covered porch, a rocker and an outside beer fridge. Retirement, love it.

  4. I agree with you. The car seems ruin the vintage old look of the house. Awesome shot!

  8. You're right - a charming house. The car does spoil the view a bit.

  12. A modern car does spoil the look of that beautiful house of another time.

  16. Yes, the driveway should have sported a bent over figure with swishing black coat and homburg, to complement the style of house.
