The Weekend in Black and White: A monochrome morning


The first shot is for the weekend in black and white and the second shows it wasn't as monochrome of a morning as I thought.

I was surprised when I zoomed in that several of the birds in the tree above were male cardinals wearing their red finery.

    Cardinals always seem exotic to me, as if they belong in a tropical climate :)

    Ah .. the selection for this meme this week, indicates to me that the Northern Hemisphere is deep in the heart of winter. I do love the Cardinal. It is a bird that we do not have at all in Australia. Instead we have a magical array of parrots.

    How fun to catch the beautiful cardinals in the bare tree -- like a bright red present on a gray day! Because they don't live "out west" cardinals still seem exotic to us. I love to catch sight of them.
