ABC Wednesday: Mud

After a downpour last week, the dogwood blossoms fell from the tree and were mired in mud.

Since one of the definitions of mire is a muddy ground, I guess mired in mud may be redundant. Kind of like saying mired in mire.

The last two shots are from several winters ago of frozen mud.

I like the crunchy sound of frozen mud.

  2. Nice choice for the letter “M”! I can almost feel the crunchiness of stepping into the frozen mud. And the fallen petals stuck on the clay gray mud make surprisingly pretty patterns. :)

  5. Hi Carver, happy belated Easter Sunday.

I'm participating in ABC Wednesday. I had to find something for Wed (Tues for us actually) since the fate of Watery Wednesday is unsure. ABC is like photo hunting a lot. I like it.

  15. It is sad when the rain brings down those lovely blossoms; I don't mind mired in mud, an alliteration I think. Those images of the frozen reddish mud are amazing. Great M's.

  21. How about mired in sin? It's the only time ever I've seen the use of the word mire. With sin. It's also my first time to see frozen mud. Over in my part of the world we have baked mud. Love those white petals. It reminds me of a family friend's garden wedding.

  22. What great captures of textures and tones. The lovely dogwood blossoms even look beautiful on the ground. I hate it when that happens. Nature, can't avoid it.

My flowering plum blooms for about one or two days, due to the usual winds. Grr.

  23. I usually hate mud. But the dogwood petals are a lovely pattern -- and in the older pix, if the mud we used to have to deal with had frozen, I wouldn't have hated it nearly so much.
