It's nice to see old building reused in a different way as opposed to being abandoned.
The shot below is one I took in a nook of an inside stairwell.
The photograph below which is inside a former tobacco warehouse renovated for offices shows what part of the downtown area looked like a long time ago. The cars are a clue it's not a recent photograph.
I often photograph the house below which is next to an office building and is used as an office itself.
It was already hot last week when I briefly wandered in the downtown Durham, NC park and garden shown below.
I wanted to photograph the garden while it was still lush and green because the extreme heat wave will no doubt turn many of the plants brown soon.
Starting on Friday we have been breaking record highs left and right.
You see a lot of Bulls in downtown Durham in honor of the Durham Bulls baseball team. The bull below is a bike rack.
The last shot is in honor of July 4 which is the U.S. Independence Day and I chose it for the red white and blue colors (not just on the flag).
This is a great post. I love when old factories take on new purposes. Windows and landscaping make a huge difference. Thanks for this tour of your world.

ReplyDeleteLol … I like the bike rack. :) I totally agree about the older building being restored instead of abandoned. There is so much incredible potential in historic structures. Often they are move attractive than the newer designs when looked after. The pretty tile art in the corner adds a lot of charm to the brick backdrop!

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a nice area and your photos capture it nicely. I also like to see old buildings reused when possible, although I bet those buildings are a little dark inside due to the small windows.

I too love old buildings rejuvenated to a new use. The house next door looks so inviting with a cool lemonade inn the chair in the shade.
ReplyDeleteSo many photographs to admire here. i'm all for making use of older buildings rather than tearing them down. I think my favourite photo is the inside stairwell, but also loved the last colour coordinated red/white/blue one. Happy Independence Day!
