ABC Wednesday: D is for Drip Drop

Drip drop falls the rain but the berry holds onto a few drips that can't make it down.

A drab and dreary day at Duke University in Durham, NC.

Sometimes dreary days create an atmosphere I like.

Part of Duke University has the Gothic style architecture which lends itself to dreary days

The rain drops still linger on my storm door but the rainbow shows up beyond it.

  2. I visited my alma mater, New Paltz, just yesterday, and the back of the Old Main looked very much like that building at Duke!

  3. Beautiful photos...calming looking at the showers and drops. Have a great week.

  4. You've taken some really wonderful photos on a rainy day. I enjoyed the one on your deck at the end and loved the blue berries with the droplet, but all the photos in between were great too.

  5. Gothic and dreary just seem to go together.
Great pictures of drips dropping too.

  6. I like your deck even in the dreary weather. And Duke looks great in the drab.

  7. What great rain shots! Mine never turn out so beautifully......

And the dreary pre-rain pictures are wonderful too. Those gothic-style buildings are perfect for that kind of day, yes!

  9. What a great post - love the look of the university. It does sort of create a "days-gone-by" dreary look.

  10. I love the first and last best, the berry drip and the deluge!
I would dearly love to see some rain here in So Cal but if it arrived right now lightening would be a real brush fire danger ...so we wait.
I enjoyed you reply about warming on my blog,I dislike stores that feel like meatlockers too! I do not use either AC or central heat as I live in a 60 year old home with a gas floor heater and a Swamp cooler in the window. At least I feel I am not a part of the problem.

  11. I love the first shot, Carver, but they're all excellent. I've never been good at rain photos, even though I spent most of my life on the wet west coast of Canada.

  18. Some great photos there, Carver. Love seeing Duke. You are right. Can be dreary, in a Harry Potter-ish sort of way.

  20. Thanks to everyone for visiting. To answer the question about the blue berry it's on a porcelain vine (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata).

  21. Loved it. Reminded me of Denmark (talk about a drippy, wet place.) I wanted to catch the drops from those berries on my tongue - great shot!

  30. Despite their dampness, the drops in your post decorate each of your photographs in a most delightful way.

  31. Tomorrow is forecast to be damp and gloomy, but we need a good drenching after our dry and dusty summer.

  32. That first shot of the berries was exquisite in its simplicity, the way you see it, as the water clings, not letting go. Dreary days are hard on me, but I imagine if I had walking distance access to stone buildings, which do look better in the gloom, I'd probably get out more! Thanks, Carver! Peace, Amy
