SkyWatch Friday: Sunrise to Sunset

New Year's eve was a great sky watching day from sunrise to sunset.

The first two shots were taken at sunrise.

The sunrise sky enticed me out after it was a little warmer although still below freezing.

I like walking at the lake when it's cold because there aren't usually many people there.

I enjoy catching reflections in the water.

The sky was particularly good for reflections.

I like shooting reflection shots from different places on the lake.

The bridge and the dam are both usually good spots to shoot from.

The clouds on the lake look like a satin bedspread.

This was one of those days where I took so many sky shots that it was hard to choose which ones to post.

Sunset was just as spectacular as sunrise.

I spent about 45 minutes shooting non stop from my bedroom window.

I like winter for photography at my house because I can see the sky better than when the trees are leafed out.
skywatDSCN0368
I like all four seasons but there is something about winter with bare limbs that I particularly like.

I hope everyone is off to a good start in the new year.

I'm off to a lazy start which is nice.

No big resolutions to break for me.

  17. Thanks to everyone for visiting. Thanks for visiting and to answer the question the lake freezes some winters but not every winter in terms of freezing solid. This year the shallow part has frozen some mornings but it hasn't stayed cold enough to freeze over.

  19. Gorgeous as usual! How wonderful to have the time to take all the pictures you want, all day long, and to have great spots to take them from, and to take so many you don't know which to share, and to have so many to share them with, who love them and who understand! Happy 2013 to you, Carver!
