SkyWatch Friday: Sunset and puffy clouds
There have only been two days since the last sky watch that I've taken sky shots.
This sunset caught me by surprise because it was a solid gray day until sunset.
I was alerted to the sunset because my blinds started glowing with an orange light.
Hard to believe that August is already ending.
This has been a good summer in terms of mild temperatures.
Everything is so green and fresh looking which is unusual for August here.
I'm curious about whether the fall foliage will be good this year. I think wet weather doesn't usually yield the best fall colors for some reason.

Our World Tuesday: Two different walks
Sunday morning was pleasantly cool and perfect for a walk around Shelley Lake (Raleigh, NC).
It's nice to have a weekend day so well suited for walking.
Especially since we had some pretty hot days earlier in the week.
The rest of the shots are from a lunch hour walk on Friday in Durham, NC.
It was too hot to walk mid day Friday but since I took it slow, photographing along the way, it wasn't too bad.
I preferred walking outside to sitting inside waiting for the meeting to resume.
I usually work from home and when I go to Durham it's because the work I'm doing involves other people.
Friday everyone decided to break around 12:15 and resume the work at 1:30 so I didn't feel like sitting inside for that long of a break.
I like this fanciful mural on the back of a building I walked past.
There are so many different parts to it but they all tie together.
I think it would be difficult to paint on the bricks.
I wonder how long it would take to complete a work like this.
It takes a long time to paint a building in one color with big rollers so it always amazes me how murals are done.
I like the mix of styles in buildings that usually make up downtown streets.
I always notice the different styles in downtown Raleigh and that's equally true in Durham.
I like the stone walls and tile roofs used in many of the churches in the area.
If I hadn't brought my lunch I would have been tempted by some of the food signs.
I enjoyed the walk but was so hot that it was a relief when I got close to my office again.
I think the sign below may be a play on the fact that the city farmer's market is located in the pavilion which is visible, although the farmers only set up there two days a week.
I'm not sure what that structure is on the building below. I'll have to remember to check it out when I'm working in Durham next.
There is sand in the feature below for children to play with.
I finally walked through Grace Garden to make it back to work.

SkyWatch Friday: August Skies
After a rainy day the sun came out long enough to set.
Sunday was one of the few days where we had partial clearing for most of the day.
Because of a very rainy summer, any blue is welcome.
I have a lot of sky shots because I take a bunch whenever it's not raining.
The shots in this post are only from three days because the rest of the time it was almost all gray.
I took a ton of shots during an art museum park walk.
I've used other shots from that walk on posts this week but still have plenty I didn't use.
While I'm writing this post it's pouring down raining.
It's raining so hard my gutters are filling up and the rain is streaming down in front of my windows.
Past droughts are fast becoming distant memories.
The next few shots were taken in Durham, NC at work.
I've shot the watertower many times.
I like the depth of the clouds in contrast to the clearer part of the sky below.
I quickly snapped the next shot driving from work back home to Raleigh, NC where I live.
I took the last two shots at home.
I like the way the contrail shot a diagonal line near the cloud.
