SkyWatch Friday: late September 2013
September is flying by like the rest of this year has done.
There are more and more signs of fall each day.
The dogwood trees as well as a few others are always way ahead of oak trees that change into their fall colors much later.
My next door neighbor's weather vane is one of my continual photographic subjects.
I like the way the rooster looks and it's much quieter than a real one.
The moon was playing hide and seek behind the clouds this morning.
I had to wait a while to catch it as the wind moved the clouds.
I've been noticing how the light is changing as the season changes.
This is one of my favorite times of the year for sky watching.
I also look forward to winter when the bare limbs will be against the sky.
I love trees throughout the year but there is something especially beautiful to me about deciduous tree after they drop their leaves.
There are also a lot of evergreens where I live to provide some green in the winter which is also nice.
This is a long post because I had trouble deciding which shots I liked.
There were only three good sky watching days but I took a lot of shots on those days.
When it's windy and there are a lot of clouds against blue, the sky changes so much within seconds.
I also wanted to include the few fall leaves I am spotting.
I've heard that rainy weather leading up to fall doesn't usually provide the best color so I'll be curious if that's true this year. We have had a lot of rain.

SkyWatch Friday: Some sunny days for a change
Although we've had a few cloudy, rainy days, there have been some sunny days for a change.
I'm starting with clouds because I'm using photographs that cover the days following the last sky watch.
It took a few days to get to the sunny skies.
With the weather cooling down it's particularly nice for the sun to come out.
There is a big difference in the night and day temperatures.
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and had to get an extra blanket because I was so cold. I love the seasonal changes so I didn't mind.
There are more and more signs of summer being at an end.
I love the way clouds look against vivid blue skies.
The last shot was close to sunset but the sun was hiding.

Our World Tuesday: Sunday walk at Lake Lynn
I usually walk at Shelley Lake because it's less than a mile from my house but this Sunday we walked at Lake Lynn.
Lake Lynn is only four miles from my house so it's also close by.
The grey goose above was pretty rambunctious but the ones below were calmer.
I like the way the ducks swam past the upside down tree in the water or rather the tree's reflection was upside down.
I think the shadows below are interesting.
The Canadian Geese were hanging out with the mallards.
It was a beautiful day and there were a lot of people taking advantage of it to walk, jog and cycle.
The mallard below was running.
The duck below was keeping its eye on the mallard.
At Lake Lynn there are long bridges/boardwalks.
I spotted four swans on the lake.
I didn't get any good group shots of the swan pairs.
I tried to catch the geese in flight but didn't get a shot until they were landing below.
Before long the trees will be changing colors.
A few trees are starting to change but only isolated leaves have fall colors so far.
