I am really fond of the Killdeer, - they are so common on the meadow, and so vigilant about looking after their nests and young ones.

Great picture of the Killdeer. I love watching them strut as they walk.
We used to see killdeer all the time where I grew up. It was one of the first birds I learned to identify.
