SkyWatch Friday: late September 2013

September is flying by like the rest of this year has done.

There are more and more signs of fall each day.

The dogwood trees as well as a few others are always way ahead of oak trees that change into their fall colors much later.

My next door neighbor's weather vane is one of my continual photographic subjects.

I like the way the rooster looks and it's much quieter than a real one.
skywatchDSCN2253
The moon was playing hide and seek behind the clouds this morning.
skywatchDSCN2243
I had to wait a while to catch it as the wind moved the clouds.

I've been noticing how the light is changing as the season changes.
skywatchDSCN2238
This is one of my favorite times of the year for sky watching.
skywatchDSCN2215
I also look forward to winter when the bare limbs will be against the sky.

I love trees throughout the year but there is something especially beautiful to me about deciduous tree after they drop their leaves.
skywatchDSCN2192
There are also a lot of evergreens where I live to provide some green in the winter which is also nice.
skywatchDSCN2190
This is a long post because I had trouble deciding which shots I liked.
skywatchDSCN2165
There were only three good sky watching days but I took a lot of shots on those days.
skywatchDSCN2163
When it's windy and there are a lot of clouds against blue, the sky changes so much within seconds.
skywatchDSCN2144
I also wanted to include the few fall leaves I am spotting.

I've heard that rainy weather leading up to fall doesn't usually provide the best color so I'll be curious if that's true this year. We have had a lot of rain.

  16. All of your cloud and sky photos this week are beautiful. So much fluffy white. And the leaves....so pretty. Ours are turning rapidly and Bud is having to mow them to cut down on my allergies. The coloration of the dogwood leaves is lovely. genie

  17. You have a lot of fall color ...still not much here and it has been a rainy September ...maybe that is why.

I don't know how you could choose which sky photos to post either. They're all wonderful.
