End of May

The first four shots were taken with my reasonably smart phone.



I was perfectly happy with a dumb phone but when it finally died I discovered that the old flip phones were no longer available through my provider.



I didn't have to change my plan and got a good deal on the new phone.



It is nice to be able to check email through the wireless option on my phone when I'm out.



I took the rest of the shots with my camera camera as opposed to phone camera.



I'm old enough to remember when telephones were all land lines.



Not to mention when there was no such thing as personal computers.



Amazing how much I didn't miss until I had it all the time.



I guess now I'll get so used to having a somewhat smart phone that I'll forget that I was perfectly happy with my dumb phone.

First half of May 2016

May 2 was pretty intense weather wise.



Fortunately I got home from work before the hail started pouring down.



One of my hydrangeas has started blooming recently.



I don't think my other hydrangea will have blooms this year because a late frost demolished its buds in late April.



The butterfly weed above is starting to pop up all over my yard so hopefully I'll have lots of butterflies.



I took the shot above today (Sunday May 15) of the Falls Lake Visitor center.



It was a perfect day for a hike.



There are a lot of good hiking areas, nature preserves and recreational areas that are part of the area surrounding Falls lake and Dam (Wake County North Carolina).



I almost hate to say North Carolina.



I love my state but lately it has become an embarrassment with stupid legislation and a narrow minded group of politician.



I think I'll stop talking politics and return the world of nature in NC.



We didn't walk down to the lake but I did take some shots through the trees.



When I got home I spotted the feather below in my driveway.
