I was perfectly happy with a dumb phone but when it finally died I discovered that the old flip phones were no longer available through my provider.

I didn't have to change my plan and got a good deal on the new phone.

It is nice to be able to check email through the wireless option on my phone when I'm out.

I took the rest of the shots with my camera camera as opposed to phone camera.

I'm old enough to remember when telephones were all land lines.

Not to mention when there was no such thing as personal computers.

Amazing how much I didn't miss until I had it all the time.

I guess now I'll get so used to having a somewhat smart phone that I'll forget that I was perfectly happy with my dumb phone.

Happy Memorial Day from an increasingly old codger.
Nobody who is still working age is allowed to refer to themselves as 'an old codger' (so be careful what you say, or I'll hit you with my cane ;>)!) I have a Smart Phone, but I barely use any of the bells and whistles. Sometimes I feel like the part of my brain that learns new things is already filled up -- because I certainly remember all those things you mention -- we really have learned some new things in our lifetime -- and as you said we can't live without most of them.
ReplyDeleteLove the towhee and the end of May beauty in your neck of the woods.
if I haven't know such thing as a computer or the internet, I guess I wouldn't really miss it, sometimes you get use to things and then they change without you knowing...
ReplyDeletewonderful photos even with a camera phone, I like the closeup flower shots
have a lovely day.
These smart phones take reasonably good photos. I wish mine could take better photos though. Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day.
ReplyDeleteBy the look of your pictures, the new cameras in phones are better and better. I wonder if it is a way for us to explore the world not just through jaded eyes but also through the magical bits and pieces of life a camera shows us.
ReplyDeleteI've still got an ordinary mobile phone and like it so much I refuse to call it dumb! I've had it for over six years, it seems to be going strong, so I don't see why I should get a new one.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I remember a time when neither mobile phones nor personal computers existed too... ;)
Ah yes, those were the days :). Lovely photos Carver. Hope your Memorial Day Weekend was a happy one c
