That's My World Tuesday: Fayetteville Street open in Raleigh NC

My daughter was home for a visit this weekend and we went downtown Friday to look at the completed new old Fayetteville Street. It was fun to discover after posting this that fellow Raleigh blogger Mojo posted Fayetteville Street at night on his My World post this week.

I wrote a prior post about how this street was originally a street, converted to a pedestrian mall in the 1970s and then the mall was ripped up and turned back into a street recently.

The first shot is of Memorial Auditorium which is at one end of the street and the second shot is of the Capitol Building which is at the other end of the street.

There was a street musician playing carols (right hand side of shot above). Because it was very cold, windy and gray we stopped for some hot chocolate in the place below.

After hot chocolate, we turned around and headed back towards memorial auditorium where we parked.

On either side of the street, at the memorial auditorium end, there is a new sculpture of some kind.

We got back in our car and drove past Christ Espiscopal Church, below, before driving home.

My daughter was my chaffeur which was nice for a change. She was even good natured about me snapping her picture while she drove.
