ABC Wednesday: N is for New River in North Carolina

I went to my archives for some shots I took years ago on the New River in North Carolina.

We had a beautiful day for paddling in a canoe on the New River.

This is the New River in the northwestern NC mountains that flows into the Virginia mountains. There is another New River in NC that is in the southeastern part of the state that empties into the Atlantic ocean but that's a different river.

  6. so you have two New Rivers? Maybe one can be Old New and the other new New. Or one can be East New and West New.

  11. Beautiful place; I'd love to do that paddle. Two rivers with the same name? Now that's geographically challenging.

  21. Carver, lovely pictures as always. The butterfly, caught with its wingspan perfectly open, was the most beautiful sight. Can't wait for the monarchs and viceroys of the northern states to come back. Ditto the lightning bugs! Amy
