Our World Tuesday: WRAL TV Azalea Garden

Sunday was cloudy in the morning and rainy in the afternoon.

Fortunately the rain didn't start until after we made a morning visit to the WRAL TV Azalea Garden in Raleigh, NC.

The Capitol Broadcasting Company founder A.J. Fletcher created the garden in 1959.

The garden underwent a major renovation in the early 2000's

The garden has 45 different varieties of azaleas.

I was also taken with what a great habitat the garden is for birds.
ourworltDSCN6465
There are lots of birdhouses and birdbaths, suet cages and other treats.
ourwortDSCN6454
There is also a great variety of different plants as well as all the azaleas.

The garden has whimsical touches.

I'm sure it's a great place for people who work there to take a break.
ourwortDSCN6472
I like the winding paths and enjoyed walking down and around.
ourwortDSCN6477
There are also a lot of trees which I find restful in gardens.

There is something about brand new green leaves that I love.

I'll end with the whimsical tree ornaments.

  4. I, too, like a forest amid flowers that can flourish in the shade. The added fountain, benches and baubles make this a haven for people and birds.

  18. If I ever had to go to work again (no chance, nobody would want me) I'd like to work somewhere where the owners built a beautiful garden park like this. I love the plantings and all the whimsical touches.
