That is too cool! Is it actually played I wonder?!
Happy WW :)
My WW entries for today are at:
Pastyme With Good Companye
The Paranormal Blog
Nuttin' But
Please stop by if you have a moment :)
We'll need strength to carry those while playing :P
THat is a cool chess set. Shame I'm rotten at chess though!
How cool! I don't know how to play chess. hehe...
That is such a neat scene and photo!
That is the biggest chess board I have ever seen. Great shot!
I think it would wear me out if I tried to play! Great photo. Happy WT/WW!
I do not play chess myself, I love to see those giant chess boards and that people socializes around them. Great photo!
How very Lewis Carrol.
Where is the Botanical Garden? I think I knew at one time, but it won't come to me now.
Nevermind... I remember now. I was thinking it couldn't be in Chapel Hill because that's where Coker Arboretum is... We should get together and compare notes sometime...
I stayed some where in Scotland that had a giant chess like that, and you could play it. Too bad I really stink at that game. Great shot.
I like the giant chess set!
That's cool. Must be fun to sit way back and plan the next move!
you'd be dead beat after the game! haha ^_~.
Wow, so cool! My son would love to play as if he were in Harry Potter.
Wow! Craftily made chess set. Reminds me of the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone. Nice!
I love that! I missed playing like this when we were in Vienna! :)Mine is posted HERE! Happy WW!~
that is just gorgeous! the giant chess pieces i saw in dallas is nothing compared to that. hee hee.
Milano
Mammoth Mountains
Oh my, I hope those chess pieces aren't as heavy as they look! Cute idea, though.
cool!!!love to play it in real!!!
How clever! What part of NC are these gardens in?
How clever of the Gardens to do this sort of art installation ...
And how clever of you to get a shot to share with us!
:-Daryl
I want to PLAY!!!!
That looks like a scaled down version of the Harry Potter chess set in the first movie! I would love to play chess on that bigger than life board!
Super awesome... My husband would be so into that huge game of chess.. he loves the game!!!!
Mountain Retreat
Thanks so much to everyone for visiting. Someone asked where this garden is located. It's in Chapel Hill, NC. I also post shots from the arboretum in Raleigh, NC and from Duke Gardens in Durham, NC although so far those are mostly on my other blog.
Reminds me of a scene in one of the Harry Potter movies... :)
Beautiful!!!
Hi Carver, great photo. I saw a larger than life chess board when visiting my sister. She lives in Germany and there was a hotel with a set that people could actually move around and play. I think it was in Freiburg. Not sure of the spelling.
Well, it had me wordless. I opened my mouth with awe and could not close it! Great shot, Carver! Funny I passed a house that has bricks on the front porch forming a rail that has white cement cutouts that look like pawn pieces of a chess set. I couldn't park to take a photo but I hope to soon...
