When I'm stuck at a stoplight it's common for me to take a quick photograph to break the boredom.
More often than not there is a steeple I can focus on so I have a lot of shots of steeples taken from my car while stuck at a stoplight.
I don't know much about most of the steeples. The first one was taken in downtown Raleigh, NC, the second in North Raleigh and the third in Durham, NC. The last two were taken in downtown Raleigh.
The last steeple is Christ Episcopal Church and has a weather vane on the tall steeple and the cross is on the tip of the roof.

About Me
- Carver
- My original site, Carver's Sight or is that Site, was inspired by reading the blogs of people who I got to know through the Melanoma Patient's Information Page (MPIP). As time has gone on, I find myself talking as much about gardening, photography, and other random thoughts as I do about melanoma follow up. I am happy about that. I have set up an additional site, Carver Cards, which is primarily a photoblog.

i like your steeple shots. amazing what you can see from the car :)
have a wonderful day.
I love your shots! What fabulous steeples! And, yes, what a view you can get from the car!! Have a great week, Carver!!
I do the same and the same is true here in Tx you get a church a gas station or a Starbucks :) I like your shots they are clear and bright
That last steeple is quite unusual, Carver! They are all beautiful, however! Thank you for sharing Your World! :)
I like your steeples shots. I call that being a photoblogger 24/7. I do the same thing.
Those steeples are great. Must be tough if you get caught in a red cycle. Lots of lights there!
Looks like you have lots of realy nice looking churches. I hope you didn't get honked at too much. :-)
It just shows always have a camera. Churches and pubs we seem to have most here and they often look very similar.
We have few steeples in My Muskoka !
what a brilliant idea to kill the traffic boredom.
and they are all beautiful!!
Wow! Great shots! I didn't know there were so many steeples in one area. :D
That's a good tip, to take photos while you wait! Love all the shots.
thats what you call drive by shooting :)
I can see you're always looking "up," Carver - good for you! Interesting My World.
that puts a different spin on things! Cool pics
You sure do see a lot of churches, or at least the steeples. I like the last one best.
Sounds like the title for a great book
Stoplights and Steeples!
Nice seeing your world.
You have a lot of churches. Do you take the photo through the windshield or an open window?
nice shots! I like the last one more:)
Nice steeple shots, I like the stonework on the last one.
That's traffic time well-spent! Wish everyone 'relaxed' your way!
That's putting your time to good use! I like the juxtaposition of the steeple and the stoplight in the first photo.
Keeping the camera handy is really cool! Steeple shots at stoplights .. who would have guessed? !!!!! Wonderful shots and story. Thanks.
Those are beautiful. Churches have some of the most interesting architecture!
love all the shots with clouds
What a great collection of steeples they all have their own look/personality. the one with the stoplights gave me a laugh!
What a fun way to pass time at a stoplight! Great photos!
so many steeple towers around your area =)
I love that double set of red lights - very cool shot Carver.
Steeples are one of my favorite things to photograph as well - you certainly have so beautiful ones.
