My daughter and I have always felt at home in public libraries, wherever we might find them, so when we got caught in the rain wandering around Greensboro, NC the library was a perfect place to seek refuge.
From the outside, I never would have guessed how interesting it would be inside. The sculpture under the skylight is a high light and the colorful children's section on the right is very appealing.
Some of the walls are covered in vintage posters from the World War I era. The windows are reflected in some of the posters which I didn't plan on when I took the picture, but I kind of like it. Of course a library wouldn't be worth much without books and this one had many rooms full of shelves filled with books, as one would expect.

Skywatch Friday: Watching the Sunset from my bedroom window
I have been enjoying watching the sunset from my bedroom window because it's one of the few spot where I can see quite a lot without the trees obstructing my view.
Once the trees drop their leaves I will be able to see more of the sunset although I kind of like the way it looks in the trees, once it's almost finished setting. Almost like the trees are on fire but without the smoke and danger.

That's My World - More shots from Greensboro, NC
Greensboro, NC is about 75 miles from where I live and I often pass it on the highway on my way to somewhere else. I've been posting a lot of shots of Greensboro lately because having some time to kill while waiting for a late flight, I was able to take a lot of photographs both from the car and walking around.
I can't tell you anything about the first shot except that the church caught my eye as we drove by. The second shot includes the cultural center I featured last week but this time I'm shooting the 3 triangles of the roof line from the back. The shot below is a mix of buildings I shot as we zoomed by.
For my last shot I have a teaser in a way. I was able to shoot a bit of the mural that lies behind the archway while we were stuck in traffic. I would like to go back sometime and see what the whole mural looks like.

That's My World: Homes for the Arts in Greensboro, NC
I recently had some time to kill in Greensboro, NC while waiting for a delayed flight to arrive. My daughter and I wandered around downtown Greensboro, and I took these shots of the Greensboro Cultural Center. To see the same place with brilliant blue skies you can visit Greensboro Daily Photo Cloudless Sky at the Cultural Arts Center post which is by another North Carolina blogger and was a SkyWatch Friday entry in April.
I was very intrigued by the whimsical building (shown below) which houses the Greensboro Children's Museum. This part of downtown Greensboro, NC reminds me of downtown Raleigh, NC which is my city. Not so much the architecture but the way both North Carolina cities have a thriving art's area, complete with a Children's museum as well as a place where artist work and show their work.

Skywatch Friday: Heading into the Blue Ridge Mountains
Last week I showed you the sun setting behind the mountains. This week I thought I'd show you the Blue Ridge mountains I shot, shortly before sunset while my daughter drove.
I found it interesting how the clouds looked so blue after we got closer to the mountains. It's almost hard to tell where the mountain ends and the cloud begins.

That's My World: Moses Cone Memorial Park in Blowing Rock, NC
I went to a family reunion recently in Boone and Blowing Rock, NC. My sister and I went on a walk at the Moses Cone Memorial Park.
We started our walk at Flat Top Manor and then headed down to Bass Lake.
After we got on the trail not far from the manor house, the first part is in the woods which I like in the summer.
I took the shot of one of my sisters on the lake and that white structure on the hill across the lake is the Manor House where we started.
The wake in the water above is made by the ducks and geese. The last shot is of our approach back to where we started.

Lions, Liliy pads, and computer irritation
I'm back from a pleasant long weekend in the North Carolina mountains and I took a zillion photographs. Unfortunately, my computer is on the blink and the old computer I'm using is very slow. For now, I'm posting one shot on each of my blogs and will hope my technical issues will be resolved soon. In the meantime, I may not be blogging or visiting blogs as much since it's so slow stuck in this old computer.
