That's My World Tuesday: An autumn walk

At the end of last week, I went on a walk around Shelley Lake which is near my house. I'm glad I did because we had a lot of rain this weekend, and I have a feeling many trees have lost their leaves after the deluge. I love the bare trees of winter but didn't want to miss walking while the autumn show is still going on at the lake.

I love to walk this time of the year because each day brings more changes and I'm a creature of change (at least in terms of what I enjoy in the natural world).

Photobucket

I can walk around this same lake at different times of the year and each month has it's own look.

Photobucket

Years ago I used to jog from my house to this lake and around it and walk the last bit back home. For that matter, before I started jogging I would walk from my house to the lake, walk around the lake and walk back home.

Photobucket

These days I either walk on the trail to the lake and turn around and walk home without circling the lake, or I drive to the lake if I want to walk around it.

I need to try to walk every day it's not raining. We are having so many rainy days that it motivates me to take advantage of the clear ones we do have.

Photobucket

I remember when we had a lengthy drought which makes me appreciate rain. However, for well over a year we have been having more than enough rain.

Photobucket

Last winter we even had some pretty snow. We had gone years without hardly any snowfall to speak of so I enjoyed having enough to give us some winter wonderland days. It didn't last long enough to be inconvenient. I hope we have that same amount of snow this winter. Just enough to be pretty without making it hard to get out.

I am glad you are able to walk and ride around the lake. Not so many years ago I used to ride my bike about 6 miles one way every day and 6 miles back. And for many years I walked my dog, Autumn Eve, 1/2 mile around our block. Now I can't walk far at all. My lung collapsed twice and then they found out my lungs are both shot.

Oh wow. If I'm not gravely mistaken I used to play softball on the field in your (1,2,3,4...) 5th photo. It's always so odd to see my own world in someone else's post. But I love how you did it!

And since we're both early, come see what was up in Wake Forest for Halloween... er... Tiff-o-we'en

I love your world..it is so lovely when the leaves change isn't it? We don't get too much of that Down Under unfortunately..(well on a much smaller scale I suppose).

Love all your photos, but especially the third last...leaves and bird on pole...priceless!

What a beautiful walk, thanks for taking us along.
I find a trail is never the same not matter how many times I hike or walk it. There is always something new to see.

Beautiful photos, especially the first one. Even with the autumn colors, it's always green where you are - I think of you as the green blog.
