ABC Wednesday: N is for North Carolina

I thought I'd take you across the State of North Carolina today starting in the eastern part of the state.

North Carolina beaches are on the east coast of the U.S. Moving west from the coast, in the center of the state is the capital of North Carolina which is Raleigh and the shot below shows the capitol building. During colonial times, New Bern (eastern part of the state) was the capital of North Carolina. However, Raleigh has been the NC capital since 1792.

Moving west across North Carolina you come to the NC mountains.

We had some nasty tornadoes in NC, including in Raleigh where I live, this past Saturday. I feel fortunate not to have been personally impacted although of course feel bad for those in my state who were.

North Carolina is one of the few states I haven't visited and I would love to someday! Marvelous captures for the day, Carter, and a great post for the N Day! Enjoy your day!

Beautiful photos, Carver. Some of my favourite musicians live in Raleigh, NORTH Carolina - the Raleigh Handbell Ringers. I think they are fabulous and you are so lucky to live close to them, - I have one of their CD's which we play and sigh over at our lowly local bellringers choir.

my mom lived, and my sister and niece live in Charlotte. I worried about them after the tornadoes, but they were OK.

I love that first photo. I've always wanted to see those beaches. Perhaps some day I will.
We were Europe and heard about the tornados when we got home. So dreadful.

Beautiful pitures - I'm most fond of the beach but the mountains are gorgeous as well! I heard about the terrible storms you've had - glad you are safe.

I love that beach photo and the play of light with the clouds, beach, and ocean.

Sorry to hear about the tornadoes. I lived in OHio growing up - we had a trampoline in the cellar so my brothers and I had fun during the tornadoes. I didn't really how dangerous they were until we saw the devastation.

Great post.

Have been all over the States except for some of the SE states, incl. NC. We hope to remedy that this fall by visits to Charleston and Savanah. Driving up the coast should be spectacular. So sorry about the wreckage wrought upon your state...crazy weather and it's snowing again right now in MN.

Your state is wonderful and beautiful, and I am sorry those tornadoes caused the death and destruction that they did. Thanks for these shots.
