We had a major storm including tornadoes ripping through Raleigh, NC on Saturday but Sunday was a beautiful day for a walk.
I could hear the water gushing out on the side of the dam at Shelley Lake that feeds into a creek before I saw it.
It was astounding what a difference a day makes because Saturday I had hail pounding on my roof and 70 mph winds.
Sunday was gorgeous and the main thing that was noticeable on the trail we walked on was the flooding.
I'm sure it was worse around the lake because those trails have a lot of trouble with flooding.
We were walking downstream from the lake.
I felt very lucky to have come through the tornado safely and there wasn't any damage that I could see in my immediate neighborhood.
Some of the news reports made it sound like the path was very close to me. All I noticed Sunday in my yard and neighborhood was regular storm issues like fallen limbs from trees and a lots of leaves and flower petals.
It was sad reading about people that lost their lives. There were a number of homes and other buildings that were flattened.
I only briefly lost power on Saturday. I still can't get over what a pretty day Sunday was after Saturday's fury.
I guess I'll stop with one last picture.

The photos are once again so gorgeous!
I can only imagine how scary a Tornado is,... poor souls..... glad you stayed safe though!
Your final photo in this post with the empty bench is very poignant, Carver. The old saying: calm before the storm is not always correct. In many cases there is a calm AFTER the storm, as there was in your world. Glad you and those in your neighborhood are all fine.
Thank you for letting me know that you are safe. We saw the extreme damage on TV and heart about a number of deaths and injuries. I feel so deeply for all those concerned.
There have been so many natural disasters lately and they seem to be increasing in force and frequency. We can just be grateful to be spared.
I hope you have a tranquil life.
I thought about you when I heard the news. Must be so scary. But you're right what a diffence a few hours make if the Sunday looked like that gorgeous.
I thought of you... glad that you are OK.. what horrific weather and sad....
Hiya Carver,
What fluctuations in weather round the world. Such severity and so close to you.
And then a peaceful walk the following day. Amazing.
Photos are so inviting and the last bench calls to me :-)
Thanks for you message.I am working through it all.
Your last shot is so beautiful, calm after the storm ;))
I'm so glad you and your neighbors didn't suffer any damage! I've read and heard so much about that storm! Your photos are fantastic and amazing that it can look so totally peaceful after such a storm! Hope you have a great and storm free week!
Sylvia
Carver, your photos are so colorful and pretty. I am glad ot hear you were safe from the tornadoes, It sounded very scary.
Mother nature seems to be on a rampage, I'm glad you were spared the worst.
I agree with my friend Penelope. That last photo really does say it all: the sadness and loneliness despite the calm after the storm.

Wow! What great photos. I've never seen a pipe gushing so much water before.
I am so glad you are safe, I can imagine the peace the calm you experienced on Sunday. Beautiful pics, one feels like resting on that bench.
Green and water - that is so much life. It's so refreshing and so full of hope. Glad you stayed safe throughout the storm.
The power of mother nature.Your pictures are very impressive and I'm enchanted by the last composition, awesome!
Take care okay!
Hugs

i read about tornadoes and they were really scary. i'm glad you and your family are okay. very beautiful captures!
I read about the storms and deaths in North Carolina. Even "devastating" seems too mild - we had some high winds that were a little scary, but nothing like what was in your area.
So glad you are safe.
Glad you are safe and sound. That last photo is amazing. It almost looks like a reflection in water.
Beautiful captures!
Visiting from My World! Our WORLD of Wintry Spring is what I can show off of our world! Hope to see you around mine! :)
That was a crazy storm. North Carolina sure paid a high price with that one.
