I live in North Carolina but one of my sisters has lived in Manhattan for over thirty years.
I thought Bill and I were going to be celebrating with my sister who lives there but I was surprised by my daughter and my other sister who also came.
My sister who lives in Manhattan is the one who is sitting on the lower step in the shot above and my daughter is seated above her.
My other sister is in the shot above, walking in Washington Square Park.
Most of the shots in this post were taken in Washington Square Park or around there but the one with my daughter and sister who were seated was taken outside the American Museum of Natural History. The shot below shows the buildings beside the Museum of Natural History.
The rest of the shots were taken either in Washington Square Park or around there.
I know I haven't posted any of these shot on this blog but some of them may have been posted on my other blog.
When I go to my archives for a post I try to select ones I haven't used before but sometimes they aren't labeled clearly enough for me to tell. I've gotten better at labeling ones I've used in my archives but I can't always tell with older ones.
I'm posting early but you can click here for the home of Our World Tuesday.

Beautiful colours of mid-autumn...
God bless you!

Great pictures and nice story,
What absolutely gorgeous buildings and monuments, Carver, and how sweet of your family to do that! Since I love the autumn, I particularly liked the shot of your sister walking where the leaves have fallen. Her jacket reminds me of autumn, too. And if fifty were a season … perhaps it would also be that time of year, even if you were feeling more like spring. :)
These are great. I love the layers of universe that make Manhattan.
Nice series, there is a lot to see in New York but my Hubby has an aversion to visiting big cities. I once talked him into a two day visit then it was off to upstate New York.
I still haven't come up with a way of keeping track of the images I've used so I'm usually stuck with using current shots.
Beautiful shots of the city. Nice to have all family together.
I love the gorgeous colors!
What terrific captures, Carver! I do love New York/Manhattan and, like Sandy, I love the layers that make it up. Wonderful post for the day! Enjoy your week!

What a nice trip you are taking us on Carver :) Nice surprise they made for you!
So you have two sisters - me too :)
I haven't had my annual trek to Manhattan yet and these shots are making me anxious to book a trip!
Lovely memories of New York for you to cherish. Great for you to be surprised by your other sister and your daughter.

It is nice to have good memories, and even better to have photo's to go with them. We never made it to New York when we were in the USA, but should have made an effort to visit before we left.
I am keeping a record book of all my blog entries, with the captions/names of all photo's and the last three digits of their shot number.
How nice to see Manhattan through your camera lens. Lucky you to have a sister who lives there!
Looks like a great time for you all in New York. I enjoyed the photos and the post.

Lovely photos of the City and your happy family... and OH what a terrible place to celebrate your birthday (LOL!)....one of the things on our bucket list is to spend a couple of weeks (at least) somewhere in NYC. There are a few $thing$ standing in the way of this item ;>).
When you get all your photos labeled and categorized let me know -- I have a few zillion I could let you work on!!!
Happy belated birthday!
Lovely shot - it looks autumnal in Manhattan though.
Nice memories.
Wish you more birthdays at Manhattan. :)
Looks like it was early Fall, seeing all those leaves.
I miss New York, and its been a while since I visited!
Thanks for refreshing the memories with your photos.
What a nice place to visit ! Beautiful buildings.
nice to see it all without tireing your feet. :)
Such a nice post Carver, with so many posts it is hard to know what we have shown before. I'll start putting an asterisk on those I have posted. Thanks for the tip.
Manhattan looks like a wonderful place to explore. thanks for the beautiful memories.
I lived in CT and Ma and visited NYC often. Lovely shots.
