So far September has had a lot of gray skies but we did have a little blue coming through during part of some days.
I always like to photograph my neighbor's weathervane.
I photographed the church steeple on a gray day. The first shot below was taken in full color but it's not very colorful.
I decided to work on removing the power lines from the picture and for those versions I changed it to monochrome.
Even though there isn't much difference in the color and monochrome ones, I found it was easier to do a clean job of getting rid of the wires if it was monochrome.
I had to remove the wires from 3 separate shots because the quality of the zoomed in ones was better than just cropping out of the wider shot after removing the wires. Also the zoomed in ones had the bird in slightly different postures. At least with the zoomed in shots there were only 2 wires to remove unlike the first one which had 7 wires.
I did a fast and dirty job of removing the wires but I think they turned out o.k. Click for the home of SkyWatch Friday.

I can see why you wanted to remove those wires, Carver. You did a fantastic job and now the picture so beautifully highlights the bird sitting on the cross at the top of that steeple.
I like the weathervane on your neighbours house. I've never tried removing wires, you did a good job and it improved the picture.
You removed the wires? Didn't know you could... Love those blue blue skies.
Good job on the wires. Loved your sky shots.

You did a great job removing those wires! If you hadn't confessed I would not have known they'd been there!
Hahaha, you did a good job removing the wires! Or else, I would say, there's a bird on the wire!
Very nice. Wires are everywhere aren't they? You did a good job removing them. Hope you have a great weekend.
Hehe - isn't that irritating, when wires off all kind damage a perfect good picture? You did a great job removing them! Great shots it is - alsom of the sky...I almost forgot about that! :))

LOvely shots of sky and the weathervane
Excellent work, Carver. I can see how B&W would be easier for removing the wires. The bird sure adds a special quality to the photos, too.

Nice job removing the wires, it really adds to the intensity of the shot. Good eye.
The weathervane is so homely and pretty. So clever of you to have removed all those unsightly wires!
Church steeples look grand against blue skies. I too photograph them .
You got a great series.
I have joined the Skywatch meme for the first time this week, calling by to visit you as another participant.
Interesting photos to welcome me to your blog for the first time. I would not even know how to go about removing the wires.
Greats shots, I like the pic with the wires!
I think we must have shared that wall of gray! So the blue sky then is eye candy. I like to remove wires too, and in Asia there are tons of them!
