The Weekend in Black and White: Shadow Play

This is one of those shots that didn't work well at all in color because the lighting wasn't great for full color. However, I thought it was effective in black and white. I was standing on a bridge looking down at the water but the shadow makes the water look like ground, at least to me.

Excellent composition and choice for black and white.

I agree with you, and I like the way you range from very dark to very bright without losing detail.

It turned out to be a great composition in b&w with lines and light :)

A great shot in b&w - I had to study the picture and read your description to understand it.

The black and white is great, but I also love the way the picture makes me feel as if I'm standing there looking down.

It is a great photo, the way shadow runs diagonally across the shot, the birds, very well taken.

I can see that color would detract from the story, which is the lines, the shadow, the textures. And yes, I also see ground, not water.
