This has been a wild week for sky watching where I live because the sky has been changing so much throughout each day.
A few days ago I went to my favorite sunset viewing window and not much was going on out the window, but when I turned around I saw that the sky had projected a show on my ceiling.
My ceiling was colorful for a long time like the shot above, and then it started looking like the next shot.
I decided I better look out the window again, before I missed the actual sunset.
Part of what is making sky viewing so satisfying is the naked trees give so much more of a view than I get in the summer at my house.
I truly love the way bare trees look although I also like the summer shade and fall colors.
It has been so much fun the way every time I step outside the sky has changed from hour to hour.
I'm a glutton for variety so I enjoy it when there are continual changes.
In the next shot the morning light bronzed some of the branches while others were still black.
I like the way the light blue is peeking out from the clouds in the next shot.
And then an even more dramatic example of a little bit of blue trying to peek out.
The evergreens make me think of huge mythological creatures looming in the next shot.
There is something mysterious to me about the light this time of year.
I can't really put my finger on it but there is such a difference in the lighting from season to season.
Of course the days grow shorter but it's more than that.
Obviously in a lot of these shots the sun is behind the clouds but I'm thinking more in general about the quality of the light.
I'm sure I could find information about seasonal lighting but the way my brain is working these days, I fear I'd forget what I learned before I stopped reading.
