SkyWatch Friday: Early December Skies

The first few days of December we had brilliant blue skies.

The American Robin above was hanging out in the tree watching me get ice out of the bird bath.

I was surprised that the pampas grass at a corner shopping area was still doing so well because my ornamental grasses are all completely brown for the winter.

After the blue sky ushered in December it started going back and forth between clouds, rain, gray and blue.

It has warmed up for the wet days and then gotten colder for the days when the sun has been out.

I have been catching quite a few reflections at the lake near my house.

At sunset a night or two ago, I went outside hoping for some color but the sun was blocked by clouds.

However, when I looked in the other direction, I saw the moon lighting up the other side.

In the shot below, I think the star which is visible is Venus but I could be wrong.

It seems odd that it was more colorful on the moon side than the sunset side. Although I didn't get the moon in the shot below, that shot was also taken when I was turned in the direction of the moon.

The last shot is one I took December 7 (Wednesday) in the middle of the day. It rained all day but it's supposed to get down to freezing tonight and the the sun is supposed to come out on Thursday, December 8. I'm preparing this post on Wednesday night and scheduling it to auto-post tomorrow.

I LOVE your blue skies! They have been scarce here in East Gwillimbury...though I have to admit the sky here is blue today. :)

Those intense blues are really gorgeous. The robin must appreciate room service!

That pampas grass looks so soft. Would love it for a photography subject. And the rest of your photos are just brilliant.
