After awhile a brown thrasher chased her out.
The American Robin wasn't too happy with the small bath, particularly since most of the water had been used and I was waiting for them to leave before refilling the baths.
She decided to go ahead and jump in and both birds had baths for a little while.
Next the American Robin went back to the larger bath and briefly got the Brown Thrasher out so they could discuss who got the large bath.
The Brown Thrasher won the debate.
The American Robin made do with the small bath.

Ah, all the important negotiations that take place in the natural world that only those in tune can decipher. :) What a fun post, Carver!
Oh - wonderful shots of the bathing birds.
And they never realized they were both being overheard :)
Great shots as always.
Lovely birds in the bath.

What a fun series!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Such lovely captures. I hardly get to see such sights here.
Great storyboard of photos. I was hoping they would start to scrub one another's backs with their beaks.
Those little birds are having lots of fun, they are gorgeous!

I love the bad hair day look of the first photo!!
Beautiful birds.
This was a very enjoyable read, with high drama and wonderful photographs to bring the story alive. As Penelope noted, it takes someone "in tune" to catch these fascinating glimpses of how nature's laws work.
I am tempted to title it The Birdbath Drama! I love the way you posted it, there was even a discussion ha! And they didn't even know someone is attentively watching and documenting.
