Above is a detail showing how the railings on steps in Grace Garden each have their own style.
This memorial garden honors Grace Richardson who died in an automobile accident. The person who hit her was driving under the influence of alcohol.
All the benches in the garden and park are different from each other.
The bench below had the plaque above.
I like the detail on the arch below.
The plaque below was sad to me as the memorial was for someone who died was in his twenties.
Below is the whimsical seat the plaque above was for.
In the summer the wooden arch on the right part of the shot below is covered in vines.
After visiting the garden I walked around to stretch my legs.
I tried to choose shots that weren't too similar to the ones I've already used for other posts. However, there are some similarities but hopefully different views.
The reason there is such a long flight of stairs in the next shot is there is parking in the lower part and a courtyard and landscaping above the parking.
I think it's a good design idea when there is enough space.
The next two shots are of Durham Auditorium.
I like the details above and around the windows.
Since I was standing on the raised courtyard I had a view of a lot of different parts of downtown Durham, NC.
I like modern architecture that provides reflections like the one below.
The next church is one I frequently photograph when I get stopped at stoplights but this view is from a different place and perspective.

All those stairs are a great design idea when able to walk up and down them for exercise. I, too, like the windows in modern buildings that reflect the sky … makes them seem less obtrusive that way. But my favorite are the stoic older buildings with their intricate designs. The memorial benches are a wonderful idea and we have them, too, in my world. But they are rarely as creative as those you show here.
Beautiful walk and captures!
Have a great week.

These images are so beautiful! What a lovely place!
I wish you a fabulous week!
Wonderful shots. The details are captured very well.
Great tour!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
I love the second part of your walk as much as the first. Those stairs would be great exercise (eek)....I take zillions of pictures too, but most of them don't turn out well, so it's easier to get rid of the extras. Yours are probably all good!
Wonderful captures of a beautiful walk! A lot of sadness, but a lot of love as well being displayed! Have a great week, Carver!!
Lovely shots Carver.
What beautiful walk. Looks like a city much at peace with itself.
Oh, what a great walk. and terrific benches!
I can see why you took so many photos - your camera was feeling happy because spring is so close. :)
Beautiful tour.

Cheers from Cottage Country!
It looks like spring! That park is a lovely way to remember loved ones.
I really liked the memorial garden. Despite its sad beginning there is a warmth and sense of humour there through those benches.
Lovely images from your walk, Carver! I love the railing and the pretty benches. The memorial garden is a lovely tribute. Thanks for sharing, have a happy day!
