I decided to include other shots that show more of the house and why I wish I could fix it up. I think the door below leads into the basement.
This house is beside a business parking lot in downtown Durham, NC. Realistically, even if it were for sale and I could afford to buy it and fix it up, I don't think I'd really want to live across the street from where I work which is where it's located. Especially since I've lived in the same house in Raleigh, NC since 1984 and the company I work for lets me work from home most of the time. Then again when I do have to drive to my office it's about a 45 minute drive from where I live and longer in rush hour.
I don't think anyone uses this house anymore and it definitely needs a lot of work. I've posted pictures of it before and when I park there I frequently photograph it. It's surrounded by office buildings and with the exception of one other old house which is used by a real estate company it's the only house in the immediate vicinity. On the plus side it's across the parking lot from Grace Garden in a city park and it's also a few yards from the Durham City Farmer's market.

Such a great old home...I hope somebody fixes it up even if it's to use as an office, at least it would be saved. (You definitely don't want to work across the street from your office.. eek! Even if you didn't have that beautiful nature park (AKA your yard)surrounding your lovely home.
Great post in black and white, Carver!
Happy Easter:)
I like the basement door best. It's very well composed and framed. I am also very fond of old doors ;)

Tem razão...não seria boa ideia viver próxima do trabalho. Lindas fotos, gosto mais da segunda. Um abraço!
That is an old house. That first shot of the brick is really good at showing the old bricklaying style. Good group of photos.
Awesome series, Carver.
Hope those valuable old homes will be fixed and used again.
Sad to see what may have been a grand home just left like this! I think I would constantly be taking photos too and dreaming of doing something about it! Fascinating series of photos!
Great pics!

Thanks for commenting at my blog. :)
I love black and white and this old house is perfect for that. You captured the solitude of this place and for me, I am always interested in if they are haunted. Bet the walls have a story, huh? :)
Nice job.
simply beautifully captured shots...lovely!
So much potential in it.
It is a beautiful house! Love that first shot.
What a beautiful old house. I can see why you love it. Great textures in you first photo.
