ABC Wednesday: U is for Under

Instead of following our usual route and walking around the lake on Sunday, we walked under the bridge and took an alternate walk.

When walking in Raleigh, NC where I live there are a lot of options.

Whenever I write about our greenway trail system I have to up the mileage as they keep adding to it.

For this post I looked it up and was surprised that we are up to 61 miles of trails.

That figure seemed high so I looked on the city site for the official map and saw the greenway system is in fact up to 117 miles of connected trails.

Some of the trails are paved, some are dirt, many follow creeks and come to lakes. I think part of what recently added so much mileage is the completion of 20 miles of trails linking northeast Raleigh with Johnston County that follow the Neuse River. Also, the difference in figures may be that some only include the portion within Raleigh city limits where others include the connected trails that go outside the city limits but are part of the same system. We didn't try to walk a 100 plus miles but did a U turn and headed home. Click for the home of ABC Wednesday.

"U" is for under and up -- and there's a "U" in beaUtiful ...and your walking trail is certainly that. (Have you walked all of those miles or do you stick to one area?)

Utmost beauty for a walking trail or trails. You can pick an area each day to get all of them walked.

Wonderful to see so much nature in the city. Raleigh to me has always meant amazing hand bell music, but now I will add this beautiful trail to my association.
