Topsail Beach NC

I have to say that North Carolina has some nice rest stops. Too bad our legislators have to get involved with peering inside the facilities and obsess over who uses which one.

I can see a certain amount of sense in getting married at a winery, you'd be all set up with the celebratory drinks.
blogDSCN4206
I haven't been to the beach in a while even though it's an easy drive from where I live in central NC.
blogDSCN4227
I've always liked the fact that it's not too far to drive to the west to the NC mountains or to the east to the beach from where I live.

Topsail is one of the closer beaches to me.

I was determined to get a shot of a bird in flight but most were too fast for me.
blogDSCN4253
Now that I commute to work instead of connecting from my computer at home, I don't photograph my backyard birds as much.
blogDSCN4259
I don't really photograph anything as much as I used to.
blogDSCN4265
I thought the yucca in bloom looked lovely on the dune.
blogDSCN4266
I love dunes and they are so important to the coast.
blogDSCN4272
I never tire of photographing the ocean.
blogDSCN4277
I think it's in part because it constantly changes.
blogDSCN4279
I had trouble deciding which shots to use for this post.
blogDSCN4290
It take me longer to be selective about photographs than to just pick a bunch.
blogDSCN4294
With long posts I run out of things to say in between the shots.
blogDSCN4315
We went out to eat last night on the sound side and I caught a sunset.
blogDSCN4369
I like the way islands are surrounded by water.
blogDSCN4381
That way you can get a sunset on the water even when it's not on the ocean side.
blogDSCN4383
The moon put on a show when it came up on the ocean side.
blogDSCN4405
I needed a tripod to do it justice but you can get an idea.

Beautiful beaches, I didn't realize that NC has beautiful beaches. I always read about the SC beaches. Hope the last week of July is easy and fun for you.

Mmm -- that red sunset is amazing. The ability to drive easily either to the coast or the mountains is what we've always loved about this part of Oregon. It really does add so much to the liveability of a place! The Atlantic coast is beautiful there ... what a great getaway. i remember when we visited around that area how I loved the dune fences -- we don't see those here on the Pacific Coast, I guess because there is more greenery growing right next to the beach, maybe that does the same thing (I'll have to check in with Google about that). Anyway, until we get a chance to visit "our" ocean, I totally enjoyed visiting yours virtually.

What an awesome and dramatic sunset … a blood drop in the sky! The beach and sea are like the sky, always shifting, changing and beguiling picture-takers such as you and me.

I don't care for the beach but I would go there to capture a sunset or sunrise, as it's rather hard to see the sky with all the skyscrapers and such.

the beach and sunset shots are quite wonderful shots.

have a lovely day.

Wow, that red moon is a gorgeous shot! All great photos Carver. I am back off my blogging break and glad to be catching up. We had a bereavement in the family and have only just returned home. Great to be visiting again.
