July 2017 ending

After a stretch of hot and humid days we had a perfect Sunday for a walk.

I took these shots at Lake Lynn in Raleigh, NC.

Not much to say but I like to post at least a couple of times a month so later I can look back on the timing in nature.

We've had so much rain that in some regards this looks more like spring than summer.

With the heat if we hadn't had a lot of rain the vegetation would look a lot droopier.

If anything we've had an over abundance of rain for many years.

I still haven't forgot what a bad drought we had from around 2005 through 2008.

In 2007/2008 the local newspaper would say how many days were left before the reservoir would be used up.

Since the Falls Lake is a 12,410 acre reservoir it's incredible to remember that.

Fortunately it never did dry up and as I said if anything we've had an overabundance of rain for years now.

That's not true for the whole state but it is for where I live in the NC Piedmont but of course with weather it can always turn on a dime.

Lovely shots, Carver! We do expect certain types of weather locally but climate can change without warning. The southwest coastal area of BC is known for rain year-round, which is why it’s so green. However, I’ve noticed a dwindling of the rainfall over the years and drier summers. This makes some people happy but I like the rain as do all the animals relying on streams and puddles of water. Elsewhere in BC, there are multiple forest fires and a great need for rain. If only we could have balance in the weather everywhere.

Beautiful shots. I love the row of turtles. I'm so happy and relived that we had a very wet winter after a 3 yr drought. We've continued to conserve water because you don't know when the rain would stop coming again.

Hope your summer is wonderful.

Interesting to read that there's been lots of rain over in your part of the world this season. This July and the June before it have been record-breakingly wet over here in Hong Kong.

Beautiful walk .... it is incredible to think that reservoir was almost dry only a few years ago. And now almost too full..... the latter makes for lovelier scenery and birds, but I hope it all evens out soon.

For my part, I'd love it if you were to post at least weekly... but hey, I'm happy enough that you're still blogging since so many blogs have suddenly stopped and "died" in recent years!
