Last week I showed you the sun setting behind the mountains. This week I thought I'd show you the Blue Ridge mountains I shot, shortly before sunset while my daughter drove.
I found it interesting how the clouds looked so blue after we got closer to the mountains. It's almost hard to tell where the mountain ends and the cloud begins.

Oh I find that riding shotgun is the best way to skywatch. Pretty nice shots Carver.
You are surrounded by beauty!
Great photo's!
Thanks for sharing.
Happy SWF!!
I love how the Blue Ridge appears to be painted blue... such pleasant skies.
Those blue ridge mountains under the cloud are marvelous. Fantastic shots.
Oh, I agree with Photo Cache as far as riding shotgun! I did a lot of that last week when my kids were here! These are magnificent shots, Carver, as always. So much beauty, so little time -- to see/catch it all!
Have a great weekend!
Sylvia
Great photos and observations.
I hope it was cooler there than here.
Come visit 'Prairie Barrens' under a hot sky, Click here.

Lovely work. I love that part of the world.
They really do have a blue hazy hue. Gorgeous. Rather envious you get to photograph these.
Beautiful views ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
The Blue Ridge Mountains in a place I'd LOVE to see in person. Interesting how everything looks blue around them. ;-)
Beautiful pictures for Skywatch! Beautiful blog!
I like how the mountains look as though they over-lapping each other. Lovely shots Carver!
Beautiful! So many different shades of blue. And the mountains are gorgeous....
Hey Carver:
Thank you for sharing our state's mountains with the world. Just lovely, lovely photos. Glad your daughter drove so you could snap away!
that's perfect for skywatch! love the sky photos!
Lovely. I've never seen the Blue Ridge Mountains...
Love the different layers in your pictures, great layers of the mountains, well done!!
Have a great SWF
Love the atmospheric perspective on the successive mountain ridges.
What a hard choice it is to decide which I love most, The Blue Ridge or the Great Smokey's...shall I just say it's a tie?
Sandi
These are gorgeous. I think my favorite mountain pictures are when you can see the layers like this. I have wanted to duplicate such scenes in paper, but have never sat down to do it.
I really like all the changing blue colors. The first one is my favorite.
Enjoy your weekend!
No wonder they're called the Blue Ridge Mts. You've captured them excellently. Was that smoke I saw towards the left foreground?
That looks a beautiful view. They do have a really blue tinge on the last shot. :-)
Fantastic... how beautiful those blue ridge mountains are!! Very nice, Carver!
Wow! Great clouds with cool blue color...
nice shots!
Regards,
Click!
